Position Information The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified, board-eligible full-time permanent hospital employed Vascular Surgeon to join our Surgery department. The Vascular Surgery Chief is accountable to the Chief of Surgery. The vascular surgery physician participates in inpatient and outpatient care related to vascular surgeries the OKC VA. Responsibilities include diagnose and provide treatment for vascular surgery patients in outpatient clinic settings, inpatient units, Cath lab, and operative care. The Vascular Surgery Section performs a wide array of open and endovascular procedures with emphasis on complex revisional surgery, limb salvage, aortic aneurysm repair, and AV (arteriovenous) access. Provides care of the Veterans' medical needs by performing examinations, surgical consultation, and developing treatment and follow-up plans to include ongoing patient and family education throughout the course of treatment. The vascular surgeon will also be responsible for performing all Chief of Vascular Surgery duties in management of clinic staff, productivity, oversight of performance measures, patient safety initiatives, and process improvement as well as apply national and VA guidelines to patient screening, surveillance and management. Additional duties include; Adhere to Medical Staff bylaws and I CARE values to maintain professional competency, courtesy, and flexibility to provide compassionate patient care for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life. Participate in program planning, objectives, policies, and standards essential to performance of all aspects of Vascular Surgery within approved credentials. Document all clinical encounter consistent within established VA guidelines for Inpatient and Outpatient Clinic consultation and follow-up, admission History and Physicals, preoperative evaluations, surgery posting notes, orders, operative notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Develop and provide medical education/counseling for patients and families with a focus on delivery of evidence based, outcomes focused, veteran centric care. Demonstrate effective communication with colleagues and leadership thru participation in staff meetings, hospital committees, and peer review process. Maintain VA training requirements, timely completion of documentation and upkeep of credentials required for privileging. Adhere to employee health requirements, participate in Clinical Pertinence Review, (routine medical record reviews), adhere to CPRS documentation rules and to clinic procedures for patient scheduling & access. Clinical Judgment: To ensure practice-based learning and improvement, practitioners are expected to be able to use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care. Additional Requirement: Must have completed formal training in Vascular surgery and be board eligible or board certified in Vascular surgery. Preferred Experience: Supervising various levels of staffing in a busy outpatient clinic and inpatient care facility, perform full spectrum of Vascular surgery procedures and taking call. The OCVAMC is located in Oklahoma City, OK and is the “Flagship” for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System (OCVAHCS) - a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b (medium complexity) facility. The surgery department serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 70,000 veterans in an area that includes 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas. Join a department that is expanding the clinical area to better serve veteran patients Work Schedule Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00-4:30 U.S. Citizens receive preference – non-U.S. Citizens may be considered. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Board Certified in Vascular Surgery preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be considered. The starting pay is $325,000- $400,000 per year. A recruitment incentive will be offered, and there is the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
