The shift is from 19:00 to 07:00 with a weekly guarantee of 36 hours. The candidate will float on a rotational basis to critical care or med/surg as needed. The unit has 26 beds with patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1. The candidate will work with equipment such as Philips monitors, chest tubes, art lines, wound vacs, drains, EVD's, Nicom, BIPAP, and Airvo. The electronic medical record system utilized is EPIC. The unit cares for neuro, trauma, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory distress, and patients requiring insulin drips. Applicants must be team players. The dress code is black scrubs or facility-logo attire only. The role involves direct patient care activities for all age groups using the nursing process. Candidates must evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers. Coordination of patient care with ancillary departments is required to optimize patient care and comfort. The position requires standing and walking most of the time, with some bending, stooping, and lifting. Candidates may be required to work varying shifts and schedules according to patient care needs. There is a high-risk exposure to blood and body fluids. Physical demands include the ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., as well as occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
