About the facility A level two trauma facility with 175 beds is seeking a cardiothoracic surgery nurse practitioner for locum tenens coverage. About the facility location Southern Illinois is full of beautiful walking trails, waterfalls, and mountains While on assignment, visit Ferne Clyffe State Park, Giant City State Park, or Shawnee National Forest About the clinician's workday The role includes minimal clinic duties, OR blocks, and 24-hour call coverage. Responsibilities include first assisting with heart and lung cases, performing EVH, and providing post-op care such as suture and staple removal, wound care, and patient education. Clinic duties are minimal, typically from 9 AM to 11 AM once or twice a week. Call coverage involves 24-hour shifts, with rounding and emergent cases, while phone calls are handled by the surgeons. Currently, the team sees 1-2 cases per day.
