Job Description

Position: Front of House Supervisor Hospitality Department Location: Cambridge College Salary: Up to £31,129 per annum, depending on experience Benefits: 34 days holiday including Bank Holidays, College pension, free meal on duty, bonus scheme, healthcare cash plan Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (excluding breaks). Shift work including evenings, weekends, and occasional out-of-hours work as required by business needs. Flexibility required for shift changes. Role Overview: We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Front of House Supervisor to join a dynamic hospitality team at a prestigious college. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of the Front of House team and delivering high-quality service to Fellows, guests, and students. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality experiences. Key Benefits Include: Up to £31,129 per annum, dependent on experience 34 days of annual leave (including bank holidays) Access to car parking (subject to availability) College pension scheme Meals on duty Healthcare Cash Plan College Bonus Scheme Breaks include a 30-minute lunch/dinner break and a 15-minute break depending on shift patterns Annual leave to be taken outside of term time Responsibilities: As a Front of House Supervisor , your key responsibilities will include: Leading, supervising, and motivating Front of House staff, including casual employees, to deliver high standards of service. Actively planning and participating in the service of food and beverages at college events such as Feasts, Reunion Dinners, special Fellows Dinners, Conferences, and Private Catering Events. Ensuring all Front of House and Buttery staff are fully briefed on event requirements and adhering to college policies, including health and safety, food safety, and COSHH regulations. Managing the set-up and timely delivery of catering for all College rooms booked for events, ensuring that all food areas are fully prepared. Monitoring and developing team skills to provide excellent customer service to internal and external guests. Supervising the day-to-day operations of the department, including scheduling casual staff, monitoring productivity, and minimizing overtime. Ensuring high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and sanitation are maintained according to the Food Safety Act 1990. Assisting with the recruitment of new casual staff and overseeing training on catering equipment use when necessary. Engaging with customers to ensure satisfaction and responding to feedback in a professional manner. Taking responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of food service areas, including the Pantry and Buttery. Expectations: Lead by example as a hands-on supervisor, sharing knowledge and experience to develop your team. Foster a strong team ethic, aiming for excellence in both service delivery and presentation. Continuously seek improvements to the products and services provided, ensuring the highest standards of customer satisfaction. Promote a positive attitude towards customer service, setting a high standard for the team to follow.
