Sous Chef

We are recruiting an experienced Sous Chef on behalf of a prestigious school. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated catering team, providing fresh, nutritious, and high-quality meals to pupils and staff. As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in delivering a varied and seasonal menu for breakfast and lunch, ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene. You will have the opportunity to bring creativity to the kitchen, contributing to exciting and nutritious menus while catering for a variety of dietary requirements. Benefits: Term time only working (excellent work-life balance) Daytimes Competitive salary and benefits package Supportive working environment in a fantastic setting Free on-site parking and lunch provided during working hours Access to professional development and training Hours of work: Monday - Friday Daytime shifts (7am - 3:30pm) Term time only, with some additional holiday shifts available at an enhanced rate Occasional evening events Key Responsibilities: Prepare and cook daily meals for pupils and staff, including breakfast and lunch Assist in menu development, ensuring balanced and nutritious options Maintain high levels of food safety, hygiene, and allergen awareness Support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen team and deputise when required Control portioning, waste, and stock levels effectively Ensure all kitchen equipment is well-maintained, and cleaning standards are met The Ideal Candidate: Experienced Sous Chef with a background in professional catering City & Guilds Diploma / BTEC HND in Professional Cookery (or equivalent) Level 2 Food Safety Certificate (Level 3 desirable) Passionate about fresh, high-quality food with an eye for detail Strong leadership and teamwork skills Previous experience in school catering or contract catering is an advantage If you're a talented and passionate Sous Chef looking for a role with a great work-life balance, we'd love to hear from you Scattergood's are acting as an agency on behalf of this vacancy.
