Based in Wollongong, the ABC Illawarra news team creates news content across all platforms that align with ABC strategy and support the achievement of New's objectives. On the weekends or after work go hiking in the national parks; get on the water - paddle board, kayak or surf in our clean rivers, lakes or the ocean; or enjoy a glass of wine at one of the local wineries. Our office by road is 80Km south of Sydney and our welcoming city, which includes gorgeous rainforests and beautiful beaches makes Wollongong a great place to live and work. The Job Under direction of the Editor, ABC Illawarra, and in collaboration with colleagues, you will be responsible for: Create content for multiple platforms to engage local and national audiences Produce and present news bulletins, interviews, and packages across all platforms. Contribute to planning and commissioning new content ideas. Implement the Local Emergency Coverage plan as needed. Develop and share local content reflecting Australia's diversity. You will have a good news sense and an understanding of regional communities, and you will be able to demonstrate: Tertiary qualifications in journalism or equivalent experience. Advanced editorial skills with reliable judgment. Moderate experience delivering breaking content for multiple platforms. Strong time management and communication skills with a collaborative approach. Understanding of local issues and flexibility to travel.
