Equipment Operator

Job Description Position: Equipment Operator Hourly Rate: $23.00 Schedule: Monday to Saturday with Sundays off and one additional day off during the week. 40-hour work week. Shift: Day Shift 8 AM - 5 PM Requirements: Must complete Background and Drug Screening. Valid state of Florida Drivers License and clean driving record. Ability to work at 4 different locations in the Naples area as scheduled. Must be able to speak, read, and write in English. Responsibilities: The Equipment Operator will run all heavy equipment at all (4) recycling centers and drive roll-off trucks. A CDL Class B License is required. The operator will also perform all duties of Solid Waste Specialist when not operating Heavy Equipment. Specific duties include: Operating various equipment and vehicles for the maintenance, upkeep, installation, and construction of County grounds, property, utilities, rights-of-way, and other infrastructure for divisional operations. Driving vehicles over public roads, work sites, rights-of-way, parks, public works facilities, and other County property. Maneuvering in and around traffic, parked cars, equipment, utilities, and other obstacles while obeying all traffic laws and safety guidelines. Monitoring the immediate environment and work area to ensure the safety of the operator, other workers, the equipment, and the public. Operating backhoe for basic digging, trenching, and clearing of land or materials for maintenance and upkeep projects for public utilities and other infrastructure. Controlling placement of equipment and determining optimum approach to each digging scenario to minimize destruction of property and avoid electric, water, sewer, and other public utility lines.
