Job Description

SDUK's brands include the Nations favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly), functional ingredients and dairy free products. This position is a key hire to oversee operational integrity and performance of all production equipment. Included in this will be the development and implementation of asset care strategies, conducting regular inspections, and utilising preventative maintenance schedules and gathering detailed data on equipment performance to develop actionable insights for enhancing reliability and efficiency. Within the role, you will also have a focus on continuous improvement (CI) and site performance enhancements, which will include identifying opportunities, leading cross-functional teams, and participating in equipment upgrades and modifications to support long-term operational objectives and sustainability goals. In addition, youll be hands-on working with fault-finding and knowledge sharing, which will include fault-finding procedures and maintaining detailed documentation. This position is one where you will have autonomy to create your own schedule around the appropriate windows of opportunity and production priorities. The role sits within our Nuneaton site, our packaging centre of excellence, working in a largely automated environment with a range of equipment and machinery. Equipment you will be working with: Block cutters, slicers, graters, weight checkers, formers, belt conveyors, elevators, rollers, case packers, robotic arms (KUKA), automatic pallet wrappers. This role has a Monday Friday working pattern. YOULL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY Overseeing operational integrity and performance of all production equipment, developing and implementing asset care strategies, and conducting regular inspections and audits to identify condition-based maintenance (CBM) opportunities. Using preventative maintenance techniques to create comprehensive planned maintenance schedules to minimise equipment downtime. Gathering detailed data on equipment performance and using analytical tools to interpret data to develop actionable insights to enhance equipment performance and reliability. Assisting the planning and evaluation of improvement projects, ensuring they align with operational goals. Leading and actively participating in CI projects focused on increasing site reliability, operational efficiency, and safety standards. Providing expert input (such as impact of proposed changes) on potential upgrades and modifications to optimise performance and efficiency, working with OEMs and contractors to ensure seamless integration. Designing and refining comprehensive fault-finding procedures and techniques to ensure swift and effective issue resolution. Ensuring documentation is regularly updated and easily accessible and equipping the wider engineering team with the necessary knowledge, tools, and methodologies to diagnose and address faults. Working closely with production, quality, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless and efficient operations through open communication. YOURE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE An experienced engineer with a relevant HNC (minimum), working within a manufacturing, production, or automotive environment. Able to demonstrate competent understanding of electrical systems, control panels, and motor control circuits. Experienced working on CI projects. An excellent faultfinder with diagnostics skills, and a proactive approach to problem solving. Competent and confident with computer systems such as MS Excel, CMMS an added benefit if you have a working familiarity with CAD. A positive communicator with demonstratable experience working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Driven by knowledge and the ability to continuously improve and develop.
