Engineering Manager

Job Title: Engineering Manager. Location: Gateshead Team Valley, UK Reports To: Operations Director Direct Reports: Maintenance Manager, Project Engineer, Engineering Team Leads, Site Services Technician, Electrical Controls Engineer About the Role: Biscuit International are the leading private label and bread substitute manufacturer in Europe, with a rich heritage of over 400 years of expertise in delivering excellent taste at great value. We operate in over 40 markets with operations in 33 factories across Europe employing over 5000 people. We are the No.1 UK producer of own label and gluten-free premium biscuits & cookies producing over 5,000 tonnes per annum. Biscuit International UK are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to join our team at our Gateshead Team Valley site. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and providing an effective and efficient engineering function that supports the maximum operational effectiveness and efficiency of our site plant, equipment, and systems. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement maintenance strategies. Create and maintain asset replacement plans. Review and implement new concepts and process improvements. Ensure 100% completion of autonomous maintenance tasks. Optimise lean manufacturing processes and plant changeovers. Conduct root cause analyses to ensure KPIs are met. Manage Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) in collaboration with Operations. Oversee and report on relevant business KPIs. Deliver CAPEX and project management on time and within budget. Manage engineering information systems. Oversee audit processes. Train and develop the engineering team, including managing team holidays and absenteeism. Participate in disciplinary procedures. Build productive working relationships across departments. Delegate work based on skills, performance, and development opportunities. Manage facilities, service contracts, and legislative procedures (e.g., fire safety, legionella). Skills & Experience Required: Strategic: Ability to understand and apply technical information. Qualifications: Degree or Apprenticeship trained (Essential) PRINCE2 (Desirable) Experience: Project delivery and management. Management of medium to large diverse teams. Delivery of KPIs. Management of legislative and audit procedures. Operational understanding (Essential) Part of a large corporate structure. Electrical, automation (Desirable) Health, Safety and Environment: Carry out duties safely and in accordance with health and safety policies. Ensure site compliance with health and safety regulations. Report safety hazards to the HSE representative.
