Job Description

Who You Are Substantial experience in motor vehicle technology and repair, particularly for cars, light goods vehicles, municipal vehicles, and parks equipment. Practical skills in hydraulics, welding, electrical repairs, and diagnostics for maintenance. Flexible with a collaborative attitude, able to adapt to a dynamic work environment and varied shifts. Comfortable working in confined spaces, at different heights, and proficient with computer systems for tracking vehicle history and maintenance records. Possession of a City and Guilds qualification or equivalent in motor vehicle maintenance and a valid LGV class C driving license. Commitment to workplace health and safety and evidence of continuous professional development. What the Job Involves Perform servicing, repair, and maintenance of vehicles, plant, and equipment following legislative and health and safety regulations. Conduct vehicle testing in line with VOSA regulations, including MOT testing using VOSA’s computerized system. Execute risk assessments, implement safe work systems, and conduct regular safety inspections on all vehicles and plant. Engage with external suppliers to secure cost-effective goods and services and efficiently manage the stores area for stock maintenance. Deliver roadside assistance and coordinate vehicle recovery, diagnose faults, and specify necessary work for contractors or in-house workshops. Oversee minor repairs, ensure quality checks on contractors' work, and report damages or required warranty repairs to the Fleet office. Maintain accurate records of statutory vehicle testing, process applicable fees, and manage end-of-day cash reconciliation. Perform visual inspections and advise on the condition of MOT and workshop equipment. Keep the workshop clean and adhere to health and safety standards.
