Skills for Chicagolands Future _Is a Chicago-based nonprofit that removes barriers to employment by eliminating biases that disqualify candidates unnecessarily. To be eligible for Skills for Chicagoland’s Future’s services, candidates must reside in Chicagoland (Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, or Will County in Illinois), and be either unemployed or underemployed, defined as working fewer than 32 hours per week or outside their field._ Freedman Seating Aside from crafting quality seating products for over 130 years, Freedmans mission is to provide growth opportunities for their employees. Job Highlights Abides OSHA and FSC rules and regulations for safety. Wear typical protection gear in an environment that contain dust, odors and noise. Work well under pressure. Read blueprints andor job procedures to determine appropriate welding process. Ability to weld with minimal quality issues. Ability to measure weldments using quality control equipment. Performs basic fit up operation in preparation for welding, on stock and standard products as well as prototypes, and with and without the use of fixtures Meet minimum production requirements. Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness. May lead, direct and train others. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Three or more years of experience preferred andor combination of education and experience. MIG (GMAW) welding of carbon and stainless steel required, TIG (GTAW) welding is a plus. Ability to interpret welding blueprints and call-outs. Ability to read English. Must have strong math and measurement skills. Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
