Science Support Coordinator £32,363 to £34,429 pro rota Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Oxfordshire Part time Fixed Term until 30th September 2027 Reference: 11516 About Us Diamond Light Source is the UKs national synchrotron science facility. By accelerating electrons to near light-speed, Diamond generates brilliant beams of light from infra-red to X-rays which are used for academic and industry research and development across a range of scientific disciplines including structural biology, physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, earth and environmental sciences. About the Role An opportunity has arisen for a part time Science Support Coordinator (known internally as a User Office Coordinator) to join our busy User Office team on a fixed term contract until 30th September 2027. The position provides users and staff withprompt administrative advice, support and feedback regarding the processes related to the access of Users to Diamond. The candidate will be a keypoint of contact for all matters related to user access, they will need to deal with a wide range of administrative issues in a busy office. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Using the User Administration System, UAS, an application for managing transactions relating to user visits and experiments at Diamond, providing administrative support for key stakeholders: external Users, Peer Reviewers and Diamond staff, who make use of Diamond's beamlines and instruments. Organising visits, including booking accommodation, travel and overseeing reimbursement of expense claims. Supporting the delivery of the peer review process. Participate in the collation of User Office financial transactions. Communicating with a range of colleagues within Diamond and play a key role in ensuring users are informed on matters relating to their visit to Diamond. This role is part time 18.5 hours per week, and there is an expectation that you will be in the office every day. About You You will have a good academic background, educated to A Level standard or equivalent. You will also demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills, along with strong communication and organisational skills, with experience of applications and systems for administrative purposes. You will demonstrate the following: IT MS office and experience / knowledge of databases and applications. Ability to handle and prioritise several tasks and seeing them through to completion. Capacity to work to a high level of accuracy and have good attention to detail. Good organisational skills and have a pro-active can do attitude. Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills. Any previous experience from a scientific or academic environment would be beneficial.
