DBS Chefs Required Environment: Schools and Nurseries Location: Greater Manchester Contract type: Temporary ongoing can lead to perm for the right candidates Hourly rate £15 to £18 ph dependent on experience, job role, and environment, each pay rate will be discussed at time of bookings. As enter 2025, we are looking to recruit multiple Enhanced DBS Chefs and Cooks in and around the Greater Manchester area, ready for the new school terms. You will be working within schools & Nurseries; however we also offer work in Care homes, Prisons & retirement villages. You will be required to help and support with any sickness, short term and long term, along with supporting with the increase demand, some of our roles may lead to permanent positions for the right candidates. To be able to work within this environment you must have enhanced DBS covering child workforce dated within the last 12 months or on the update service. If you don't have this we do have the facilities to process one for you at a cost. We can offer you flexibility of, day time shifts, occasional weekends and great pay rates. The more flexible you are with travelling and the role you cover the more shifts and work we can offer. Working Hours: Working within a schools or nursery, majority of these roles will offer Monday to Friday working with shift start times from 7/8am till around 2/5pm finish. Please note you may have to stay later due to business needs. The working environment You will not just be a school dinner cook, you will be preparing and cooking fresh nutritious food for the children, and ensuring they have a hot meal provided daily. Some environments may require you to work alone and prepare different textured diets, following recipe books and adhering to all allergy requirements on site. Due to the various types of sites, we cover your working environment will change from site to site. We will look to place you in the most comfortable environments for you. We supply to contract catering sites, Schools, Prisons, Care homes, hotels, and events, I am sure we have something to fit your experience and needs. Main Duties Work within a team to ensure jobs are completed for the day Putting away deliveries. Possibility of food orders, dependent on the role you are placed into i.e head chef/chef manager. Assist with the preparation of food & other areas of the kitchen including pot washing. - this is mainly within our smaller sites, due to lower volumes. Adhering to all relevant health and safety requirements Cooking nutritious food within requirements to the highest of standards Ensure a clean as you go policy is being operated at all times Possibility of serving food Possibility of till operation Requirements and skills: Previous experience as a chef/cook level within the last 2 years. Flexibility in shift patterns including weekends if needed all our nurseries don't require weekends. Experience within education sector, cooking for either small & large schools both primary secondary and nurseries. Great communication and team work skills Level 2 food hygiene certificate (ideal but not essential as training is provided) Level 2 Health and Safety Certificate (ideal but not essential as training is provided) Food allergen certificates. Passion for food Ability to work under pressure Due to certain locations a full UK driving license is required along with own access to a vehicle An in date Enhanced DBS DATED WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS ideally on the new updated service programme.
