Job Description
1. Resident Support: Provide practical and emotional support to residents based on their individual needs. Assist residents in creating and implementing personal action plans to achieve their goals. Support residents in developing essential life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and maintaining tenancy agreements. Act as a keyworker for assigned residents, conducting regular reviews and updates of support plans. 2. Hostel Management: Monitor the safety and security of the hostel, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Manage conflicts and mediate disputes between residents when necessary. Conduct regular room and communal area inspections to maintain cleanliness and safety standards. Respond to emergencies or incidents in accordance with the hostel’s policies and procedures. 3. Administration and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each resident, including support plans, incident reports, and progress notes. Complete shift handovers to ensure effective communication between team members. Assist with administrative duties, including rent collection and reporting maintenance issues. 4. Partnership and Collaboration: Work collaboratively with external agencies, such as housing services, social workers, and mental health professionals, to provide holistic support to residents. Attend meetings and contribute to case conferences when required. Advocate on behalf of residents to access additional resources and services. Person Specification: Essential Skills and Qualifications: Experience in a support worker or similar role, ideally in a hostel or housing environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and confidentiality principles. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Desirable Skills and Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification. Knowledge of housing policies and tenancy management. Experience working with vulnerable groups, such as individuals with mental health challenges, substance misuse issues, or homelessness. Key Attributes: Empathy and a non-judgmental approach.
