Accounting Manager.
$120-150K plus 10% bonus
- We are actively seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our growing team.
- The position will be a hybrid of Accounting and Finance. The position will report directly to the CEO.
- They will be responsible for building out, structuring and formalizing the accounting function including setting up SOPs, evaluating a new accounting platform, making sure controls are in place, automating manual processes, building the accounting team as needed.
- On the finance side, they will develop budgets and P&Ls for each event (including determining labor costs), create the 2 year, 3 year and 5 year strategic plan, actual vs. forecast variance and the revenue & cash flow forecasts.

As the Accounting Manager, you will lead a dynamic finance team, overseeing all financial aspects of the organization while providing strategic guidance across various departments. This role requires a seasoned finance professional with expertise in the events industry, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of managing financial operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Lead comprehensive financial analysis of event performance, comparing actual results to budgets and forecasts through systems and processes with the goal of real-time reporting.
- Identify trends and KPIs to guide strategic decision-making.
- Analyze revenue streams and cost components to optimize profitability and efficiency.
- Develop financial models and dashboards to present clear, visually appealing event financial data.
- Lead and ensure accuracy with weekly and monthly reporting.
- Prepare and present insightful financial reports to leadership and stakeholders on a monthly basis, within 10 days after month-end.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Collaborate with the team to develop accurate, project-based budgets and an annual master budget for the company 3 months prior to the start of each year.
- Prepare financial forecasts based on historical data and market insights.
- Monitor cash flow, optimize resource allocation for events, and conduct variance analysis to address discrepancies.
- Evaluate events and investments through cost-benefit analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Audit & CPA Oversight
- Coordinate with external auditors and CPA to ensure smooth audit engagements and compliance with regulations.
- Provide annual financials within 30 days of year-end to the audit and CPA for their review.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
- Detect and prevent fraudulent activities through risk assessments and implement corrective actions based on audit findings.
Accounting Policies and Procedures
- Develop and enforce clear accounting policies aligned with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Establish guidelines for revenue recognition, expense management, and internal controls.
- Provide training and updates to the company regarding policies and procedures.
Financial Risk Management
- Identify and assess potential financial risks related to events and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage currency exposure and credit risks, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Cash Flow Management
- Forecast and optimize cash flow for events and the organization, preparing monthly reports for management and stakeholders.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable, controlling event-related expenses and implementing cost-saving measures.
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Oversight
- Work with AR and AP teams to optimize collections and payments.
- Ensure timely communication regarding outstanding invoices and overdue accounts, negotiating favorable terms with vendors.
Communication and Follow-Up
- Establish timely response policies within the finance department, ensuring completion of tasks and projects.
- Foster a culture of responsiveness and collaboration within the finance team and across departments.
Requirements and Skills
- Minimum 7 years of experience in financial roles, with significant experience in the events, hospitality, retail or live entertainment industry preferred
- Proven track record in project-based budgeting and forecasting, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Thorough understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles, and compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, iSolved, SAP).
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with excellent organizational and leadership capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a relevant field; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
