The Hotel at Arundel Preserve (Hotel Arundel) is the premier independent hotel in the BWI\Hanover market close to Columbia, Baltimore, Annapolis and Washington DC. As an upscale property with two unique full-service restaurants an extensive fitness center and indoor pool along with 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, it is perfect for both business travelers, leisure guests and groups. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Hotel Arundel is seeking a dynamic, fun, engaging, experienced sales leader that has the ability and desire to work for an exceptional independent property supported by a terrific team. The next Director of Sales and Marketing will be responsible for leading our overall sales and marketing operations as Hotel Arundel continues to evolve its brand and further drive its market-leading performance. The right leader will be able to teach, lead and direct both sales and catering operations working closely with the Director of Catering, General Manager and others. Experience in marketing with website analytic and social media experience will be essential as Hotel Arundel will also be expanding our web presence, refreshing our brand and increasing our marketing reach.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
- Be the leader of all hotel top-line operations creating a culture of excellence through the establishment of expectations and personal accountability
- Direct and supervise activities of sales and catering team and direct marketing operations in partnership with the Southern Management Corporate Team.
- Establish service and performance standards for sales, catering, conference services and outline level of service delivery for banquet and catering events
- Work closely with the Area Director of Revenue to establish group and transient sales guidelines, create and promote packages, develop strategies for special events, establish daily, weekly, monthly and annual rate guidelines
- Prospect & develop new accounts in the local market/tri-state area and maintain current local client base through outside sales efforts
- Participate in direct sales efforts focusing on Government, Association and other market segments including prospecting, contracting and account maintenance
- Actively participate in community and trade organizations including attendance at tradeshows and local networking events
- Prepare and analyze monthly forecasting for all rooms and F&B revenues, excluding outlets
- Work with Accounting to maintain and update year to date bookings report for all events
- Set and track revenue/booking goals for all group and catering segments and leaders
- Establish sales parameters including rooms to space ratios to optimize total revenue
- Set standards and goals for Area Business Transient (BT) manager and the hotel to optimize mid-week occupancy leveraging both local negotiated and Consortia volume
- Responsible for creating and maintaining an annual marketing plan in partnership with the corporate marketing team for strategic and tactical plans to improve both awareness and community position
- Work with VP of Hospitality and Sales and General Manager to create the Annual Business Plan
- Review and analyze competition and customer needs to competitively position the hotel
- Produce monthly sales related reports
- Accurately produce and review all sales contracts, rate agreements
- Work closely with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients
- Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections and off-site presentations for potential clients
- Maintain knowledge and compliance with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards
- Availability during peak operating times, i.e.: Weekends, Holidays and Special Events
- Work as a team member to ensure our guests have the best possible experience
- Understand company's emergency procedures and be able to apply them when necessary
- Attend department meetings and training sessions as necessary
- Effectively lead staff through respectful communication, clear expectations, relevant training, productive coaching, holding regular team meetings, and appropriate performance management
- Delegate work as appropriate, stating clearly objectives and time-line requirements
- Responsible management of department budget
- Positive interaction with all levels of management and vendors
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager and/or Supervisor
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Professional appearance
- Knowledge of hotel and food & beverage operations
- Strong knowledge of hotel financial accounting requirements for departmental budgeting and tracking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and detail oriented with excellent time management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure
- Technical knowledgeable and competency in necessary systems and software:
- - Outlook, Word, Excel, Delphi FDC
What's required from you:
- Minimum three (3) years as high-performing Director of Sales and Marketing in high-volume rooms and F&B property
- 4-year degree in hospitality, business or related field preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in an independent hotel property preferred but not required
