We’re looking for a Site Manager to join us in North Cornwall to take care of the daily operations at our coastal visitor hotspots on the north Cornwall coast between Holywell and Morwenstow. This role will help ensure people have a great experience whilst growing support for our charity.
Weekend, bank holiday and occasional evening working required (on a rota basis) What it's like to work hereThe North Cornwall team looks after some of the most beautiful and loved parts of the North Cornwall coast. This includes the golden sandy beaches of Holywell and Crantock, the dramatic coastal views over Carnewas at Bedruthan, the nature and beauty of the iconic headlands of Trevose & Pentire, the sheltered harbour of Boscastle, as well as the pebble backed beach at Sandymouth.
North Cornwall is popular for both local visitors and tourists. Our visitor facing teams deliver excellent service to all those who visit, helping people make the most of their days, creating lasting lifelong memories. Our welcome team are knowledgeable about our local conservation and access work and promote the work of the National Trust, providing our visitors with the ability to support the work of the Trust through becoming a member or making a donation.
Our friendly frontline teams are based at our busiest visitor sites, which include the car parks at Crantock, Holywell, Carnewas at Bedruthan, Trevose and Sandymouth, as well as our new visitor hub at Pentire which opened in 2021.
Some of our sites are remote with limited public transport, so you will need a full driving licence and access to transport.
What you'll be doingThis is a busy and varied role. Day to day, you’ll be responsible for planning and running the on-site operations. This will include duty management, weekends and some evening work on a rota basis.
You’ll be leading a large frontline team of around 35 people in the summer, consisting of seasonal and permanent staff, and potentially some recruitment and supervision of volunteers. You’ll have direct line management of three Welcome Managers and be responsible for rotas, staff recruitment and team development.
You will lead a culture of ‘exceptional service, every time for everyone’ in your team. Working closely with colleagues, including the Visitor Experience Officer you will ensure a high quality experience across the entire visitor journey, from signage to delivering programming activity.
As Site Manager you’ll work closely with the Visitor Operations & Experience Manager and other members of the Property Leadership Team, to help develop the vision and business plan for the property and will play a key role in the execution and delivery of these plans.
In your role as Site Manager you will take a lead on planning and delivering parts of our Growing Support strategy, including Membership recruitment and low level fundraising. You’ll also be responsible for meeting operational KPIs at the property and have some delegated budget accountability, including staff wages, membership recruitment targets, donation targets and car park income.
As well as building great relationships internally across the property and regional team, you will also develop great external relationships with our stakeholders and partners at our places and be the key point of contact for some of these.
Compliance is an integral part of the role and you’ll be responsible for ensuring you and your team implement and follow health and safety procedures and making sure our work systems are safe, as well as being a chief contact for various contractors on site.

- a problem-solver, able to work on your own initiative.
