Kitchen Assistant

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role is essential for supporting meal preparation, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. Responsibilities Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen operations. Help with the cooking of various dishes under the guidance of experienced cooks. Support catering events by preparing food items and assisting with service as needed. Keep the kitchen area clean and organised, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen manager. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy periods. Qualifications Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided. Knowledge of food safety practices is an advantage. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy setting. A passion for culinary arts and willingness to learn new skills related to meal preparation and cooking techniques. Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with colleagues. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends if required
