This position is located in the Northeast Archeological Resources Program within the Cultural Resources Division of Interior Region 1. This is a temporary appointment NTE 1039 hours. Open to the first 75 applicants or until 01/17/2025 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.

Job Requirements

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/17/2025-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. In order to qualify for this position, you must have one year of experience equivalent to the GS-6 level (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing tasks involved in conducting archeological field surveys; searching for archeological features and artifacts and recording survey results through field notes, site maps, or photographs; conducting supervised excavation and testing of archeological sites; utilizing tools and equipment common to archeological functions (e.g., topographic maps and other archeological survey tools) OR One full year of graduate education in a related field such as: Historical or Precolonial Archeology, Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Geoarchaeology, History, or Historic Preservation. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. PLEASE NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies each course, college or university, semester or quarter hour earned, grade received, and date completed. If you fail to submit, your application will not be considered and you will be rated ineligible. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST: 1. Clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, title of position, starting and ending dates of employment (month and year). 2. Must reflect work schedule as full-time and/or part-time and the total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time or part-time). 3. If part-time, (the number of hours worked must be indicated) and will be pro-rated to determine the amount of qualified specialized experience. 4. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Failure to adequately provide the information stated above will result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
