Job Description
As an LGV driver you will be supporting our operational teams by delivering and collecting consumables, equipment and permanent works materials for our nationwide construction sites utilising our 18T Flatbed LGV and occasionally smaller vehicles such as 3.5T Pickups and Vans.
A flexible approach to working hours is required to ensure we can meeting expected delivery timescales e.g. early starts may be required.
You will occasionally be required to stay overnight due to the distances involved in some projects, however a hotel and meal allowance will be provided.
The role will include but not limited to the following:
Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
Maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance
Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
Ensure your vehicle is clean and presentable
Make deliveries to ULE construction sites, acting in a professional manner at all times
Immediately report any problems regarding delivery arrival times, delays or discrepancies with loads
Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office / Site
Observe and adhere to site procedures at each delivery site
Ensure correct completion of a defect report as and when required.
Assisting with yard duties when not driving
Qualifications
Possession of LGV Class C+E Licence, CPC and valid Tacho card.
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work without direct supervision
Adaptable and methodical approach to work/ training
Conscientious and reliable
Flexible working hours
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines
Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
