About this client/child: This lively and affectionate two-year-old lives in Somerset with his Mum, Dad, and dog. His mum sustained a brain injury, so requires support with all her daily living tasks. She is a wheelchair user with limited use of her upper limbs. She cherishes spending time with her son, whether it’s playing together or taking him to nursery. She is supported by an incredible support and therapy team, and her partner. She is making remarkable progress every day. Currently, her partner is at home helping to care for her and their son, and he is planning to return to work soon. To continue fostering Mums independence and ensure their son receives the best care, the family is seeking a compassionate and reliable Support Worker/Mother’s Help to join their team, assisting Mum in actively caring for her son and supporting their vibrant family life.
Overview of role: This will be a rewarding and dynamic role that combines childcare with rehabilitation support. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with experience working with young children and a willingness to learn rehabilitation skills under the guidance of Mums Occupational Therapist. The role centres on collaborating with Mum, and her support team to support Mum in caring for her son, while empowering her to take the lead rather than taking over. During term time, her son attends nursery, and the candidate will assist with the busy morning routine. The position involves typical childcare related tasks, such as cooking and laundry, which are often performed in collaboration with Mum and her team. We’re looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas, whether in play-based activities or creative approaches to daily tasks, that Mum can participate in and gradually take a more active role as she continues her rehabilitation journey. During school holidays, when the role expands to full-time hours, there’s more opportunity to plan outings and activities. On Saturdays, the role includes accompanying the family to watch Dad play football. This role requires teamwork and collaboration. Mum has a dedicated team supporting her ongoing rehabilitation, and this position focuses on actively supporting her as she cares for her son.
Who this job would suit: This role is ideal for a female childcare professional with extensive experience in child-led play and development, who is eager to expand her skill set in the field of rehabilitation.
What’s great about this job: This role offers an incredible opportunity to play a meaningful part in Mum’s rehabilitation journey. You’ll witness her progress first hand as she works alongside an exceptional team of dedicated rehabilitation professionals.
Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews. Please note, unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies.
