Job Summary
The Information Technology Programming Boot Camp program seeks a Student Assistant : Teaching Assistant to support program operations, enhance participant learning experiences, and assist with program administration.
Responsibilities
* Facilitate participant engagement with pre-defined Java programming activities to enhance their technical skills.
* Lead information-sharing and peer mentoring sessions to guide participants in navigating the IT major and/or minor at GGC and effectively utilizing campus resources.
* Provide clerical support at the registration desk.
* Assist in collecting evaluation forms to gather participant feedback.
* Accompany participants on field trips and social activities.
* Conduct data entry, cleaning, and analysis under the supervision of a faculty member to support program evaluation and improvement.
* Perform other related duties as assigned to support the program's success.
Required Qualifications
* Must be enrolled as an Information Technology major
* Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College.
* Students must be available during designated Boot Camp sessions.
* Maximum commitment of 24 hours per week.
* Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.
* Must be in good conduct standing with the Office of Student Integrity and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
* Must have achieved a minimum grade of B in the following courses: Programming Fundamentals (ITEC 2140) and Intermediate Programming (ITEC 2150)
Preferred Qualifications
* Actively pursuing a degree in a technology- or science-related discipline.
* Previous tutoring or mentoring experience, preferably in a programming or technology-related field.
* Applicants with advanced programming coursework or equivalent experience, particularly those who have earned at least a B grade in Advanced Programming (ITEC 3150), will have opportunities to work with higher-level boot camp participants.
* Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and technical skills to effectively engage participants.
