Who You Are
You bring substantial experience in motor vehicle technology, adept at handling cars, light goods vehicles, municipal vehicles, and parks equipment. Your skills extend to general hydraulic, welding, and electrical repairs, underpinned by strong diagnostic abilities. Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments and shift patterns are second nature to you. You are comfortable working under or on vehicles, navigating varying heights and confined spaces, and accessing inspection pits via ladders. Using computer systems to record work and check vehicle histories is part of your expertise. You possess excellent teamwork skills and ideally hold qualifications as a VOSA MOT tester for class 4 and 5A vehicles. A solid grasp of workplace health and safety, along with a commitment to continuous professional development, are key attributes. You hold a City and Guilds qualification in motor vehicle maintenance or equivalent, and an LGV class C driving license.
What the Job Involves
The job involves performing servicing, repair, and maintenance on a diverse range of vehicles, plant, and equipment following scheduled programs. You'll conduct risk assessments and safety inspections to ensure adherence to legal and policy standards. Engaging with suppliers to maintain the best value in goods and services is essential. You'll manage and maintain stock levels in the stores area and provide roadside assistance, arranging vehicle recovery when needed. The role includes conducting electrical work, welding, fabrication, and minor repairs. Inspecting and testing vehicles returning from contractors to ensure satisfactory completion and safety is part of your responsibilities. Recording statutory testing of vehicles and ensuring adherence to financial procedures is required. You'll manage the cleanliness and safety of the workshop, comply with shift systems, and assist in the induction and work allocation of trainees if necessary. Building key relationships with internal departments, public members, and external contractors and suppliers is crucial. A commitment to health and safety, promoting equality and diversity, and safeguarding vulnerable groups is expected.
