UPMC is hiring a full-time Mental Health Counselor I to support Western Behavioral Health at Mon Yough in McKeesport, PA. \n The incumbent is primarily responsible for the provision and coordination of counseling and casework services within the MH Residential Programs. The incumbent is further responsible for educating and assisting individuals with daily living, financial, socialization, mobility and survival skills.\n The incumbent will specifically be supporting Lyle Home Place, where they will join a supportive team in a small work environment. There are a couple shifts available but include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and overnights. The idea candidate will be a problem-solver and will have the desire to make a difference in their clients' lives. \n \nThis position is eligible for a sign on bonus of $3,500 with a 2-year work commitment!\n Responsibilities:\n\nWork at various sites as needed and familiarize with orientation binders.\nWork independently under stress, without imposing personal beliefs.\nStay calm and supportive, especially in emergencies.\nEstablish effective relationships with consumers, meeting weekly to discuss progress and goals.\nProvide education, guidance, and crisis intervention.\nAssess and document consumer functioning, develop service plans, and complete all required documentation.\nBe flexible with work schedules and stay awake during shifts.\nProvide quality services regardless of consumer issues.\nAssist with medical appointments, financial assistance, daily living skills, and public transportation.\nOrient consumers to the community and educate on emergency procedures.\nTeach social skills and encourage recreational activities.\nCommunicate with treatment team and attend relevant meetings.\nProvide liaison to service providers as per consumer's service plan.\n\nHigh School diploma or equivalent with (1) year related experience\nDriving is an essential job responsibility; therefore, must possess a valid PA driver's license and grant MYCS authorization to initiate a Driver History Review including the state Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR). MVR must meet the required agency standards.
