SEN Teaching Assistants with ASD Experience Required
Location: Kensington & Chelsea (W10)
Start Date: ASAP/January 2025
Job Type: Full-Time - Monday to Friday - 8.15am to 3.15pm
Pay: £88 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience - Paid through PAYE)
Teaching Personnel is working with an Outstanding OFSTED rated SEN Trust in Kensington & Chelsea. They arelooking for a number of SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive provision of which the pupils learn in a wonderful establishment with state of the art facilities. These include low arousal classrooms, sensory and therapy rooms, a new early years playground, art and cooking rooms, life skills area, specialist recreation areas and fantastic outside learning environments.
This school is located in Kensington & Chelsea and supports children aged between 4 to 19. Split between 4 sites, this fantastic inclusive school caters for a variety of complex and severe needs, specialising in supporting non-verbal children and those with sensory impairments.
Although challenging, this school will provide you with opportunities for professional development, and the objective is that you have quick career progression. Staff can be upskilled on a range of specialist strategies including TEACCH, PECS, Attention Autism, Makaton and Intensive Interaction. They are open to both full and part-time staff, and there’s a real culture of team-work and togetherness. Hours are 8.30am-3.30pm.
It’s a very active and fast paced role, so they are looking for really passionate, motivated and enthusiastic SEN TAs who have a can-do attitude and will go above and beyond for the children. Experience is by no means required, so this is a great opportunity if you’re looking to kick start a career in special education or just develop your existing skills further.
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should:
Have experience working with children with SEN, or a genuine passion for this
Be flexible, proactive and patient
Be able to communicate effectively within a team
Be resilient, passionate and driven to go above and beyond for children of all needs
Be open to providing personal care
Have a Background in Education, Care, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.
Training or experience in non-verbal communication is preferred, but a willingness to learn is essential. For example Makaton, PECS
