About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Full-Time Residential Childcare Worker to join a dedicated and passionate team providing high-quality care and support to young people in a residential setting based in Dunkeld. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that young people receive a safe, nurturing, and structured environment, helping them to grow, develop, and overcome personal challenges. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people and making a positive impact on their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide direct care and support to young people in a residential setting, promoting their safety, wellbeing, and development.
* Support young people with day-to-day tasks, including personal care, mealtime routines, and engaging in social or recreational activities.
* Develop positive, trusting relationships with young people, supporting their emotional and social development.
* Work closely with colleagues and external professionals to ensure young people receive appropriate support, including educational, therapeutic, and practical assistance.
* Implement care plans and provide consistent care, focusing on individual needs and supporting the young person’s development.
* Support young people to develop independent living skills, self-esteem, and confidence.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including reports on young people’s progress and incidents.
* Provide guidance and manage challenging behavior using a proactive and therapeutic approach.
* Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
* Promote positive behavior and work towards resolving conflict in a constructive and supportive manner.
* Take part in regular team meetings, training, and development sessions to enhance professional growth and practice.
Skills and Experience:
* At least 6 months of experience working with children and young people with additional support needs is essential.
* A strong understanding of child development and the challenges young people may face.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
* Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with young people and colleagues.
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children and young people.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage challenging situations.
* A flexible, proactive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
* A relevant qualification in social care or childcare (e.g., SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, HNC in Social Care, or equivalent) is preferred, but not essential.
* A commitment to promoting the welfare and rights of young people.
* The ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
