A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Luxury 5* Corporate Hotel brand, Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel in Canary Wharf, East London.
We are currently recruiting a dedicated and ProactiveShift Engineerto be a part of our main central Mechanical Hub the Hotel, the Engineering Department.
Set within the historic wharfs and quays of East London, Canary Riverside Plaza is the only five-star independent hotel in Canary Wharf. The 142 spacious guest rooms and suites make for an incredibly comfortable stay, be it for business or leisure, offering stunning views of the River Thames and city beyond. Key qualities we are looking from the Shift Engineer:
As Shift Engineer, reporting into the Hotel Maintenance Manager, you will be working with a dedicated team of skilled Shift Engineers where all of you will be responsible for carrying out generalist Maintenance work around the Hotel property.
The ideal candidate will have the following Skills and Knowledge:
Must have a minimum of 2-3 years experience within a similar Maintenance / Engineering role within the Hospitality Hotel Industry
Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations including emergency out of hours if required.
Ability to work under pressure and independently.
Basic computer skills and relevant programs like outlook for communication
Good communication skills
Positive attitude
Commitment to delivering a high level of Guest Service.
Excellent grooming standards
First Aid & Health & Safety qualifications would be advantageous.
The main responsibilities for this role would include:
Conducting the general repairs of the electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning/refrigeration, kitchen equipment, plumbing and decoration works.
Ensuring that all PPM works are completed on schedule and compliant with all safety regulations.
Regular H&S checks including weekly fire alarm tests, emergency lighting, ladders and highchairs checks.
Reviewing and updating Opera system for issues and prioritising tasks.
Carrying out routine inspections of vital operational machinery, equipment, lighting, and toilets.
Ordering spare-parts and other maintenance consumables within provided budget.
Providing access and assistance for the external contractors.
Liaison with the Engineering Supervisors and Maintenance Manager on any outstanding issues.
Liaison and communication with the Hotel General Manager, Hotel Operations Manager and Operational Heads of Department Managers on general repairs and maintenance.
Being part of the small team, you will demonstrate excellent knowledge and dedicated behaviour.
The successful candidate will be highly professional, have excellent communication skills, be well presented and understand the importance of exceptional Guest Service.
