SEND Support Assessor
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £30,501 (£24,730.54 pro-rata) per annum
Hours: Part time (30 hours per week, all year round)
The Role
As a SEND Assessor you will work within the Additional Learning Support Team and report directly to the Head of Additional Learning and High Needs Support. You will work collaboratively with learners, their families, schools, colleagues and external agencies to identify and design a support plan for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to support with pre-entry and on-programme support to aid achievement of planned outcomes and progression.
The key function of this role is to support learners with additional needs to access learning, college facilities and fully participate in general College activities.
In addition to a sound knowledge of SEND and understanding of a broad range of health-related issues this role requires professionalism, good verbal and written communication skills, recording of accurate information in a timely manner, empathy and flexibility to meet the needs of a variety of learners. You may be the primary point of contact for learners and be required to work collaboratively with the wider college community to ensure that the Group meets its duty in terms of the SEND Code of Practice.
Skills and Qualifications
To be success in this role you will need previous experience in supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties and of working with young people and vulnerable adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, particularly addressing needs and putting these into place.
You will have experience and understanding of making safeguarding referrals and the importance of Additional Learning Support within an educational or training context.
You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake), as well as a specialist qualification in relevant SEND area i.e. one that enables further understanding and knowledge when identifying strategies to support learners ALS requirements to overcome barriers to learning.
Department Info
You will report directly to the Head of Additional Learning and High Needs Support and work as part of the Groups Additional Learning Support Team. You will collaborate effectively with Cross College staff including Wellbeing Mentors, Campus Safeguarding Leads, ALS Administrators, LSA Co-ordinators, Curriculum staff and other stakeholders as and when appropriate.
