The role of this Personal Care Assistant

Our personal care assistants join our clients support team, providing reliable, essential care and support in their home.You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support them only.This role is part-time, working 20 hours per week on a Wednesday and Saturday, 10:00am to 20:00pm.

About the Client and Duties

Our client lives independently and is full of energy and enthusiasm. As a DJ with a deep passion for music, he would love for you to share that same enthusiasm.

He is eager to become even more active. He enjoys outings to the park and the beach and is looking for someone sociable, fit, and energetic to help him attend more events and activities. Although he uses a wheelchair, it doesn't limit his zest for life. A good sense of humour is essential, as hes known for his playful sarcasmso if youre easy-going, youll definitely have fun!

You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that can vary by the day so an amount of flexibility is required.Some of the main duties include:administering medication, moving and handling, assisting our client in the community and to get to and from appointments, administrative duties, cooking and cleaning and ensuring his holistic wellbeing is supported at all times.

If youre open-minded, laid-back, and dont mind working in a smoking environment or being around cats, this role could be a great fit. He invites you to join his team and share some laughs!

Ideally you will be a driver but please dont let this put you off applying as our client will also consider non-drivers if you have the right qualities.

Training and Support:

We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards covering:

  • Full induction
  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Health & Safety / First Aid / Food Hygiene
  • Moving & Handling with Hoist / Infection Control
  • Administration of Medication
  • Mental Health Support Needs / Head Injury / Epilepsy

All training must be completed before the start date and is paid at £14.01 per hour

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable working in a smoking environment
  • Happy to work around cats (with no cat allergies)
  • Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
  • You must be reliable, compassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality
