Carnegie Mellon University's department ofComputing Services is searching for aSenior Network Operations Engineer. This is a dynamic opportunityfor someone whothrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You willcontributeto the department by providing essential support by deploying, configuring, maintaining and monitoring of LAN and WAN networks.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor network security and connectivity

  • Gather information to evaluate networking performance, troubleshoot network problems, and identify user needs and determine network requirements

  • Deploys, configures, manages and monitors Wireless, Local Area and Wide Area Networks. This includes deploying and supporting network technologies and services such as routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, 802.11 wireless LANs, TCP/IP, Ethernet, SNMP and VPN.

  • Maintains accurate and updated documentation.

  • Responds to tier 3 support requests regarding network issues; troubleshoots and determines resolution for network issues.

  • Other duties as assigned

You should demonstrate:

  • Problem-solving and reasoning skills

  • Organization, planning and project management skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computing Engineering/Computer Science required (or a combination of education and relevant work experience)

  • 3-5 years of Network Administration, Network Deployment and Support, and/or Network Security Administration experience required

  • CCNP-Cisco Certified Network Professional - Cisco Systems, Inc. preferred

  • Advanced Aruba Networks experience and/or certifications desired. Other wireless vendor experience and/or certifications also desired.

  • Experience with cloud connectivity and service deployments and/or operations.
