Associate in Extension, WRRC Posting Number req21375 Department Water Resources Resrch Ctr-Ext Department Website Link https://wrrc.arizona.edu/ Location Main Campus Address Tucson, AZ USA Position Highlights The Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) at the University of Arizona is seeking applicants for an Associate in Extension. This candidate will work as a neutral third party for local, state, nonprofit, and federal partners to assist with the development of flexible and innovative approaches to water resources planning. The candidate will perform research and stakeholder engagement activities to help identify solutions that strengthen local economies while supporting the natural resources that contribute to quality of life. The candidate will communicate research and project results via written reports, oral presentations at conferences, and meetings. The candidate will pursue grant funding to support research and program work.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Stakeholder Engagement: identify stakeholders pertinent to water resource planning; coordinate and facilitate meetings and workshops; develop agendas; take and publish meeting minutes; track action items to completion.
* Research: work with cross-functional teams to develop questions for research; perform literature reviews, interviews, analyses, and in-field data collection; compile, analyze, and interpret data and literature to prepare reports and presentations answering research questions; document methods for improvement and broader implementation.
* Grants: identify funding opportunities applicable to research questions and WRRC mission; develop partnerships to apply for funding; generate grant proposals; develop budgets and scopes of work.
* Project Management: develop implementation plans from awarded proposals; track budget and schedule performance of projects; communicate project progress to stakeholders; perform risk management activities; complete contractual reporting requirements; supervise staff and graduate students that provide operational support to projects.
* General Support: Coordinating internally with WRRC personnel and participating in WRRC meetings and programs as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

* Knowledge of technical and policy dimensions of water topics in Arizona, including Colorado River issues, Central Arizona Project, Groundwater Management Act, rural water issues, conjunctive management of surface and groundwater, hydrology, watershed management, water quality.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and present and communicate complex ideas to audiences ranging from laypersons to subject matter experts.
* Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in water resources or related field or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
* Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* * Experience with data analysis and visualization, including the use of GIS, maps, and online data platforms to perform these tasks is preferred.
* * Experience supervising full and part time staff preferred.
* * Experience with project management and grant writing.
* * Master's Degree in water resources or related field.
