Job Description

The Order Taker Supervisor oversees the services and daily operations of the In-Room Dining department to ensure successful and well-coordinated events. Answer questions about all hotel menus and their hours of operation. Deliver guest orders as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Complete all tasks as assigned by the In-Room Dining Manager. Check in for assignments upon arrival each day.
* Meet with managers in daily "Huddle" to discuss Banquet Event Orders, group guarantees, ordering, distribution of work assignments, and any other pertinent information about the groups to be serviced during the shift.
* Contribute input to evaluations and disciplinary processes for Room Service employees.
* Meet with group contacts in a friendly and professional manner to ensure successful events, and address issues and changes if needed.
* Fill in all product requisitions and Eatec for upcoming events, or delegate this duty and ensure accurate completion.
* Order food and beverage supplies in Eatec and any other supplies necessary for the operation of Room Service. Coordinate with morning or evening Manager to complete order, using par stock list as a guide.
* Oversee the proper and timely completion of servers' side work and closing duties, as assigned by Room Service manager on duty.
* Take orders for amenities, prepare amenity packages, accurately charge amenities to correct department, document all amenity changes, and correctly file all information.
* Answer the telephone and accurately record guest information and food and/or beverage orders according to established procedure.
* Up sell and suggest additional food and/or beverage items to compliment the order whenever possible.
* Have a strong knowledge of restaurants and Room Service menus and be able to communicate details to hotel guests.
* Oversee and ensure the completion and accuracy of charges by in-house guests and group charges; comply with records retention policies.
* Accurately document orders on dish pick up list and ensure dish pick up standards are being met correctly.
* Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety and health policies and procedures.
* Huddle daily with staff in the morning and evening to discuss upcoming events or noteworthy information that impacts the department.
* Meet with manager weekly to address issues and continue ongoing learning with office work, BEOs, and departmental service.
* Complete all tasks as assigned by the Room Service Manager or Manager on Duty.
* Demonstrate knowledge of and competency in all aspects of department, delivery, order taking, honor bar, office systems, and managerial duties.
* Oversee and maintain Room Service Standards stated in Operations Manual.
* Monitor areas for cleanliness and organization.
* Ensure carts are clean and in good repair at all times.
* Ensure that all BEOs are handled according to BEO specifications and Standard Operating Procedures.
* Attend weekly menu meeting on scheduled shifts and communicate any changes or issues as necessary.
* Perform weekly cart inspections and send weekly inspection sheet to fleet maintenance.
* Communicate effectively with staff from both the front and back of the house.
* Comply with all Pebble Beach Company values and standards as indicated in the Employee Handbook.

Absolutely Required Skills:

* Good supervisory and organizational skills.
* Must be a team player.
* Clear and polite manner of communicating.
* Ability to work a varied and flexible shift.
* Food safety certification required.
* High school diploma or equivalent.

Desired Skills:

* 1+ years' experience as a Supervisor or Captain strongly preferred.
