Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The Student Associate for Project Management and Strategy Support will engage in a variety of archive and special collections-related activities. The student will primarily report to and assist the work of Mary Barbosa-Jerez, Head of Strategy for Library Collections and Archives. By nature of supporting the work of the Head of Strategy for Library Collections and Archives the student will often communicate with other library professionals including but not limited to Kristell Benson (Lead Archivist), and Jillian Sparks (Distinctive Collections Engagement Librarian). The student will primarily be responsible for the preventative conservation and preservation of archival materials, management of archival and special collections digital assets, facilitation of archives internships, maintenance of newsletter and website presence, leadership of other student employees, and other special projects as assigned, such as assisting with outreach/displays/exhibits, research for grants and other special projects, as well as the implementation and planning of major strategy initiatives. The student will also be responsible for the hiring and training of their replacement during their senior year. This position also offers the possibility of full-time employment during the summer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• You will be responsible for the preventative conservation and preservation of archival materials
• You will assist the work of Mary Barbosa-Jerez, Head of Strategy for Library Collections and Archives
• You will be responsible for the preparation and organization of archival materials and metadata undergoing the digitization process
• You will be responsible for the management and upload of digital assets to Digital Olaf
• You will work with lead Archives and Special Collections staff for the hiring of new student employees
• You will implement, and possibly design, an internship program
• You will manage the College Archives and Special Collections web presence
• You will design and curate a twice yearly newsletter
• You could be asked to help accession materials and prepare them for archival processing
• You could be asked to help create and set up displays and exhibits
• You could be asked to help at Special Collections and College Archives outreach events
• In your final year, you will play a leading role in training in your successor
• You will be responsible for the completion and management of special projects
Work Schedule:
Term: Full Year
Shift: Flexible work schedule based on availability

• Time management skills, including the ability to balance multiple requests and tasks
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and competing priorities
• Strong interpersonal and listening skills
• Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
• Good decision-making skills
• Careful, but timely follow-through on processes and procedures.
• Comfortable learning and using multiple technologies, systems, and data management tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including phone skills
• Impeccable organization skills
• The ability to improve upon established processes
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work with minimal supervision

Student employment positions must have a work award on file to be eligible to participate in the work study program.
