Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Administrative Assistant in Student Accessibility Services (SAS) position. The Administrative Assistant is a full-time, year-round position, starting at $21.78 per hour - commensurate with experience. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.
Reporting to the Director of Student Accessibility Services, the Administrative Assistant works in a team environment, coordinates and performs various activities that increase efficiency, support the work of SAS, and ensure smooth operations of SAS. The Administrative Assistant is a full-time, in-person, and year-round position.

This is an on-campus position and requires one to be on campus 5 days/week, and not eligible for remote work.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Office Support
* Provide front desk reception as the initial contact for and timely respondent to all who call, email, or visit the office
* Fosters a warm, inclusive, professional office environment, acting as a key information resource and facilitating referrals to the appropriate persons/departments
* Relies upon good judgment to assess the urgency of requests and takes appropriate action, maintaining high sensitivity and confidentiality at all times
* Establishes and maintains confidential files and utilizes databases to ensure organization, completeness, accuracy, and accessibility of information regarding various student processes administered by the suite
* Schedules appointments, meetings, programming, and major office recurring activities for the SAS staff
* Helps with setup and breakdown of programs
* Works directly with the Access Coordinator daily to support student testing. This requires printing and scanning exams, handing out and collecting exams, walking students to testing locations as needed, uploading exams into the system, and collaborating closely with the Access Coordinator
* Acts as a backup to the Access Coordinator in their absence
* Attends to financial administrative duties, including approving, processing, tracking, and reconciling requests in Workday
* Maintains appropriate inventory of office supplies for SAS
* Cross-trains to provide temporary administrative support to other offices as needed
Qualifications:
Required
* High School Diploma and three years of related experience with some autonomy or Associate's degree
* Three years of related experience
* Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills
* Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
* Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively
* Attention to detail
* Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn a variety of software
* Commitment to serving the needs of a diverse population, including individuals with disabilities
