With Direction and guidance from the Social Service Director, community associates will deliver on-site trauma-informed social services at city sanctuary hotels throughout New York City. Working cooperatively with hotel operation and security staff, community associates will welcome and engage migrant an asylum-seeking single adult, families with children, or adult families (without children as they enter the sanctuary hotel and navigate New York City. Community Associates will compete culturally sensitive assessments to identify strengths, barriers, and service needs; make referrals to address those needs; and coordinate with City agencies, immigration services, and other community-based organizations.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Estimated Starting Salary Range for Community Associate: 24.04 Based on experience.
- Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided.
- Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.
Community Associate Responsibilities Include:
- Culturally sensitive registration, intake, roster tracking, and assessment
- Bilingual Spanish/English case services
- Referrals to community-based programs and organizations
- Coordination with interpretation and translation services
- Coordination with the NYC Department of Education (DOE) on student registration, school placement, attendance, transportation, and troubleshooting as needed
- Referrals to ESL instruction
- Referrals for childcare
- Medical care coordination
- Coordination with the Mayor's Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIS)
- Referrals to immigration legal services
- Other tasks as necessary to facilitate delivery of necessary services to clients, including storage and distribution of packaged meals.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Community Associate Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Bachelor's degree or relevant social services experience with people who are vulnerable and have experienced significant trauma. Preferred bachelor's degree in social work or other human services field + two years of relevant experience working with people who are vulnerable and have experienced significant trauma
- Spanish/English bilingual fluency required, and additional languages preferred include French, Haitian Creole, Wolof, Pular, Fulah and other western African dialects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and problem solve
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of immigration laws and procedures
- Solid understanding of trauma and experience delivering trauma-informed services
- Crisis intervention experience
- Knowledge of immigration laws and regulations
- Understanding of child development and child welfare
- Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Community Coordinator, Shift Lead, or Community Engagement Manager.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
