Biological Science Technician

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/30/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Minimum Qualifications GS-7 To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: 1) assisting a field crew team member for invasive plant control projects in remote natural settings or urban parks; identifying target invasive plant species from desirable native plant species; handling and applying herbicides AND assisting with maintenance of equipment used for vegetation control. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related to the position. Related degrees may include biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. You must include transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combination of experience and education that, together, equal 100% of the qualification standards listed above when combined. This experience includes activities such as: 1) participating as a field crew team member for invasive plant control projects in remote natural settings or urban parks; 2) identifying target invasive plant species from desirable native plant species; 3) handling and applying herbicides; 4) researching and compiling botany inventory data; 5) leading maintenance and assisting with repairs of equipment used for vegetations control. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related. Related degrees may include biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. This experience includes activities such as: 1) leading and conducting a field crew through invasive plant control projects in remote natural settings; 2) identifying target invasive plant species from desirable native plant species; 3) collecting invasive plant control data and records according to standard protocols; leading the processing of spatial data collected by program staff; 4)leading maintenance and repairs of all equipment used for vegetation control AND knowledge of technical methods and procedures of biological resource practices with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Endangered Species Act. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if directly related.
