Job Description

The Pacific West Region is recruiting for summer seasonal Sign Painter Helper, WG-4104-5 positions intended to assist permanent staff with sign painting field work. Open to the first 50 applicants. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 EST on the 'applicant cut-off' date (which may be sooner than 12/30/2024) to be considered.

Yosemite National Park, California, known worldwide for its spectacular natural beauty is the backdrop for this position. Sitting astride the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park covers 1,182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from river valleys to alpine meadows to lofty 13,000 foot high peaks. Yosemite Valley is located 208 miles from San Francisco, 81 miles from Merced, and 94 miles from Fresno. Shopping, medical, postal and laundry services are available in the park. Elevation at the Valley floor is approximately 4,000 feet and 2,200 feet in El Portal. Job Requirements

Ability to do the work of a Sign Painter Helper without more than normal supervision (Screen Out). Must have experience doing the following duties: Operating different types of sign making tools and equipment ranging from routers, power saws, sanders, computer controlled cutters and laser engravers. Making wood signs from rough lumber including painting letters and staining. Create various types of plaques and awards using wood, aluminum, brass and other materials typical to the industry. Use computers and various programs to operate sign making equipment to cut, layout and make signs. Make signs from work orders and/or blue prints. Appropriately set up, maintain and work within controlled traffic work zones and works as a flagger during roadway projects.
