Interdisciplinary Integrated Post-Fire Specialist

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. Your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year to month/year), and must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Natural Resources Management/Biological Sciences, GS-0401: Degree: A 4-year degree (Bachelor's or higher) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, fire science, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. Related course work generally refers to courses that may be accepted as part of the program major. Anthropology GS-0190: Degree: A 4-year degree (Bachelor's or higher) appropriate field of anthropology. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in an appropriate field of anthropology, or related course work, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience in anthropology performing research, museum work, or similar professional-level work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION: In addition to the requirements described above, the following additional experience and/or education for the grade(s) specified is required. For the GS-9 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level. Examples of specialized experience are: Assessing and/or monitoring wildland fire effects to natural or cultural resources; Collecting and analyzing data related to natural or cultural resource values, threats, and/or damages; Summarizing and interpreting technical materials related to natural or cultural resources. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field; OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related; OR An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. For the GS-11 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level. Examples of specialized experience are: Conducting assessments of natural or cultural resources at risk from wildland fire or post-fire events; Evaluating the need for actions to repair or rehabilitate land or resources following wildfire; Conducting research or interpreting technical materials related to post-fire effects or effective post-fire risk mitigation techniques; Monitoring, documenting, and reporting outcomes of natural or cultural resource protection or rehabilitation actions. OR A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to the position being filled; OR An appropriate combination of education and experience. For example, 6 months of the specialized experience described, and 45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours of directly-related graduate level college study as defined above in an accredited institution. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
