Job Description
This position is located in a National Park Service at Isle Royale. Performs simple and routine work involved in maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Knowledge of materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instructions SCREEN OUT MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Able to perform complex maintenance work associated with a variety of trades such as carpentry, painting, preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, pulleys, blocks, winches and other trades appropriate to working as a deckhand on a tugboat towing barges on open water of the Great Lakes (or similar size of body of water). I have supervised or served as a lead deckhand over others in the performance of such tasks as a regular part of my duties. I have extensive experience in the operation of tractors, forklifts, and front-end loaders to load and unload supplies. I can repair and operate a variety of tools and equipment associated with the trades above. I take initiative to solve complex problems and can accomplish a variety of maintenance worker deckhand assignments independently and safely. I possess a strong work ethic, dexterity and am able to perform strenuous work as required by the position. I possess the ability to use a computer, maintain records, and perform simple arithmetic calculations. I am able to operate boats up to 26 feet.
