This position will be embedded within the Division of Cardiology. The ideal candidate will oversee the Mechanical Support Critical Care Unit at NBIMC as its Medical Director and will work with a team of critical care intensivists, cardiologists, critical care advanced practitioners, cardiology fellows and residents. The candidate will work to standardize the care of patients in the unit
setting programmatic goals and metrics for quality, safety, and efficiency, developing clinical protocols, and implementing standards of practice. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the multidisciplinary management of critical care patients, including pre and post heart transplant patients, those with temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices, and those with other conditions such as myocardial infarction, post-cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, and shock.
The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team that includes other Heart Failure and Transplant physicians, Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Physicians. The candidate will have an academic track record and the desire and ability to educate and mentor students, residents, fellows, and staff, to implement quality improvement initiatives, and to participate in clinical research.

More about this position:
- Board Certification in Critical Care is required
- Additional board certification in Cardiology, prior expertise treating advanced heart failure or heart transplant patients, or experience in a CCU setting is preferred/encouraged (not required)
- At least 3-5 years of relevant previous experience
- New Jersey licensed or eligible for New Jersey licensure
