Job Description
MECHANICAL HVAC ESTIMATOR - A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic Mechanical Estimator to join a great MEP company in the West Midlands.
Based in the Midlands and operating on a nationwide scale, my client has been delivering M&E solutions for over 20 years covering a wide range of sectors including: distribution & manufacturing, retail, office workspaces, hospitality and leisure. As a business, they are well established within the industry and consistently turning over circa £60m per annum.
As they continue to grow, my client is now seeking a skilled Mechanical HVAC Estimator to join their dynamic team.
The Role:
As the successful Mechanical Estimator, you will play a crucial role in project development and success by providing accurate cost estimations for mechanical HVAC systems. You will collaborate closely with the engineering, project management, and sales teams to assess project requirements, analyse data, and develop comprehensive cost estimates. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring that projects are competitively priced, profitable, and executed within budgetary constraints.
Responsibilities:
* Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand project requirements.
* Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates.
* Conduct thorough material take-offs and compile accurate quantity surveys.
* Research and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations for inclusion in cost estimates.
* Prepare detailed breakdowns of labor, equipment, materials, and other costs.
* Utilize cost databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
* Prepare comprehensive and professional tender submissions.
* Collaborate with the sales team to review and negotiate proposals with clients.
* Keep abreast of industry trends, pricing, and technological advancements.
* Participate in pre-tender meetings, site visits, and other project-related activities as required.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the M&E industry.
* In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, components, and materials.
* Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles, and building regulations.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
* Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
* Advanced proficiency in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
* Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
