Experienced Chef - York

Position: Care Home Chef
Salary: £31,590
Location: York

The Essentials:

• Hours: 2 x 8 hour shifts(till 3pm), 12 hour shifts finish at 7pm
• Experience: Care home experience not required
• Key Responsibilities: Team support, guest service, shift management, operations, stock control

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary needs, including allergies and health conditions.
• Create meal plans based on residents' preferences and nutritional requirements.
• Ensure high standards in food preparation and presentation, maintaining quality across all meals.
• Collaborate with care staff to adjust menus based on dietary assessments and feedback.
• Manage stock levels, place orders, and oversee supply deliveries.
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen, following food hygiene regulations.
• Oversee kitchen staff, providing training, support, and motivation.
• Stay current on food safety laws, ensuring compliance.
• Monitor portion control and reduce food waste to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Requirements:

• Chef experience (care home or healthcare experience is a plus).
• Understanding of dietary needs, especially for elderly residents.
• Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or higher preferred).
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in kitchen operations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
