Job Title: Commis Chef Location: Northern Suburbs, Johannesburg Salary: R8,000 – R10,000 (negotiable) We are looking for a talented Commis Chef to support our high-end kitchen team. This role is perfect for a dedicated chef with a passion for culinary excellence and a background in high-quality dining. Key Responsibilities: Oversee kitchen operations, supervise staff, and maintain high service standards. Assist in menu development, food preparation, plating, and presentation. Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost control. Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment. Efficiently coordinate tasks, manage pressure, and adapt to seasonal menu changes. Minimum Requirements: Culinary diploma or certificate preferred. 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a restaurant. Basic skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and use of kitchen equipment. Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and proper storage. Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain quality control. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn from senior chefs. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Passion for cooking, teamwork, and a positive work ethic.
