Job Requirements
Hours worked per week must be stated for each season and position held in your resume. ***Experience listed will need to include specific duties about the work being performed and should not be only the general language stated below in the examples. To qualify for a GS-03 You must meet at least one of the following: 1). Six months of general experience, which can be any work experience. -OR- 2). At least one year of education above the high school level (30 semester or 45 quarter credit hours in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). -OR- 3). An equivalent combination of education and experience specified above. To qualify for a GS-04 You must meet at least one of the following: 1). One year of general work experience, which can be any work experience. -OR- 2). Two years of education above the high school level (60 semester or 90 quarter hours in an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 72 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). -OR- 3). A combination of the education and experience described above. To qualify for a GS-05 You must meet at least one of the following: 1). One year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-04 level duties. Examples of specialized work experience include: Working with dispatch and dispatch office functions related to wildland fire suppression activities. Work should have included experience such as determining priorities and selecting alternative resources while performing dispatch operations duties independently. -OR- 2). A successful completion of a 4 year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree in any field. -OR- 3). Physical Demands: The work involves long hours of sitting, intense concentration, and working at peak proficiency/intensity levels with irregular breaks and mealtimes. The duties of this position create a highly stressful environment during peak activity, requiring the ability to keep calm in emergency situations. Must be able to cope with the pressure of meeting timeframes and changing priorities. Mental concentration and accuracy are required. Vehicle and aircraft travel associated with field visits and other administrative travel may be required. Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office setting. During peak activity, increased radio traffic, numerous ringing phones, and conversations result in high noise levels, which require a high level of concentration to perform duties. This creates a high stress work environment.
