Job Description
This Tier one Principal Contractor has a long-term freelance opportunity for a Rail Section Engineer on an iconic project. Your continuous development on medium to large rail projects specifically on civils (bridges, platforms extensions, retaining walls, drainage, earthworks) for a tier one Principal Contractor, is sought.
As a Section Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
Advise Site Engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
Ensure that works are accurately and clearly set out before work is programmed to commence.
Arrange formal checking of setting out and ensure check request form is completed.
Ensure reasonable survey book standards and daily diaries are maintained.
Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed and digitally recorded.
Confirm in writing any verbal instructions received from the client or designer and ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.
Prepare and monitor 4 weekly programme, mark up progress for review at the weekly site review meeting.
Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
Carry out material take off and requisitions as requested by Sub Agent or Agent.
Ensure that testing / sampling of materials is carried out as required by the specification.
Monitor the work to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
Maintain good working relations with client, designer and supply chain.
Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behaviour.
Ensure that the 3D information drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works, and formally request any missing information.
Herewith the following mandatory requirements for this opportunity:
Degree, HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent NVQ Level.
Proven development experience as a Site Engineer
Extensive civils experience on medium to large rail/civils projects
Experience managing and mentoring teams whilst working for tier one contractors.
PTS or willing to obtain accreditation.
MAP CSCS
SSSTS
Qualified to ICE Technician or Incorporated would be advantageous.
