Job Description

The Role

Due to the retirement of the current incumbent Holmsterne foods are looking for a new Head of Finance. The role will be working directly for the owner and MD across 2 manufacturing Sites. Turnover of the business is circa £20 Million Turnover


This is an exciting time to join the company and plenty of opportunity for improvements to be made and to help with the commercials of the business. This would suit someone either to step up from a Senior Finance Manager role or someone in a similar position Head of Finance or Finance Director who has extensive food manufacturing experience. There is opportunity to progress to Finance Director for the right candidate going forward.


With the team being a small team, this is a Hands on role so someone happy to get involved in preparation of the Management Accounts as well as the commercial and strategy of the business.

A food manufacturing company based in North Yorkshire that supplies a broad range of food products to partner customers in Retail, Manufacturing, and Food Service, including leading UK supermarkets. They manufacture raw and cooked meats and vegetables, ingredients for prepared meals, and components for other food manufacturers. Their range includes ready meals, soups, roasted vegetables, shredded meats, ribs, meatballs, sausages, stuffings, ambient meals, hot food to go, and health & wellbeing meals.


They operate from two modern manufacturing factories and are fully accredited to SAGI Global, BRC Food standards, and SEDEX ethical. They have a development kitchen and a management team committed to total transparency and customer care.


Duties

  • Business partner to Managing Director and board members in development of business and financial plans and Strategies, ensuring that such plans and strategies are documented as appropriate
  • Manage motivate and train staff of 3 ( Purchase Ledger, Credit Controller and Costing Controller)
  • Preparing Reports, budgets, commentary and financial statements to Directors
  • Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts including Fixed asset register
  • Develop Accounting Policies and procedures to ensure all transactions are recorded effectively
  • Overhead cost controls - PO & approval process implementation
  • Invoice and credit card expenditure approval and reconciliation
  • Management Accounts including Fixed asset register, Intercompany and Bank Reconciliations
  • Stock management – Aged Stock
  • Labour Implementation – KPI development, labour planning, attainment, and efficiency
  • Financial analysis of the business and different Business lines and products
  • Monitor cost and margin analysis
  • CAPEX appraisal
  • Liaising with company auditors and 3rd party business solutions experts

Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified ACA, CIMA, ACCA or Qualified By experience with
  • Extensive experience in Food Manufacturing a MUST
  • Strong Management Skills
  • Keen to improve new processes and Procedures to help business grow
  • Happy to be in a hands on role reporting to the MD and business owner
