About the Role Reporting to the Mine General Manager, the Mine Manager oversees the management of people, safety, partnerships, and production for our respected client's Mine Department. This leadership position is responsible for both tactical and strategic planning to ensure safe, efficient operations. As part of the Senior Management Team, the role contributes to the overall site business strategy. Responsibilities Health & Safety Advocate for health and safety by identifying, reporting, and addressing risks. Ensure compliance with our respected client’s health and safety policies and provincial legislation. Lead daily safety meetings and promote SOP and STP adherence. Conduct and maintain required safety training and certifications for site compliance. Operational Execution Lead the Mine Department with clear direction, supporting a culture of safety, productivity, and cost management. Foster a high level of communication, organizational efficiency, and detailed planning. Build and sustain partnerships within and outside of the department to meet organizational goals. Oversee key components of our respected client's management systems, including Fatality Risk Management, Enablon, and SAP. Encourage accountability and continuous improvement within the workforce. Key Responsibilities Ensure underground mine operations align with safety, production, and cost targets. Contribute to strategic planning at a senior management level and collaborate with cross-functional teams for mid- and long-term planning. Lead continuous improvement initiatives for asset and resource optimization. Oversee safety performance, ensuring a robust Safety Management System and timely response to JHSEC concerns. Implement succession plans and support employee development to achieve full potential. Capability Development Drive performance improvements through strategic thinking, decision-making, and skill enhancement. Foster team collaboration and inspire others to meet or exceed targets. Comply with environmental and sustainability procedures and report incidents promptly. Conduct performance assessments and liaise with HR for employee engagement and well-being. Working Conditions Work is primarily underground in varying temperature and humidity levels, with frequent outdoor exposure. Accommodation in a camp environment with amenities, including dining, Wi-Fi, and recreational facilities. 12-hour rotating shifts in a 14-day on, 14-day off schedule. Qualifications & Experience 10-15 years of underground mining experience, including 7 years in supervisory roles and 3 years as a Superintendent or equivalent. Advanced understanding of mining operations, safety, and applicable legislation. Strong business acumen with budgeting, cost control, and ERP proficiency. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred but equivalent experience will be considered. Skills & Abilities Proven leadership with excellent communication skills. Solid knowledge of the Mining Act and related regulations. Ability to manage cross-functional relationships and motivate teams to achieve results.
