Job Description

Position:Prep Kitchen ManagerEstablishment: New Restaurant OpeningLocation: St. James's, LondonAvailability: Starting in AugustSalary: £50k including Tronc


The Prep Kitchen Manager is a crucial role in the successful launch and ongoing operations of this exciting new restaurant. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the preparation kitchen, ensuring efficient and high-quality food production to support the front-of-house team.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and schedule the prep kitchen team, including line cooks and kitchen assistants, to ensure all tasks are completed to the required standard and on time.

  • Develop and implement effective systems and procedures for inventory management, food preparation, and kitchen organisation.

  • Monitor and maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in the prep kitchen, in compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to plan and execute the daily production schedule, anticipating and addressing any potential challenges.

  • Provide training and mentorship to the prep kitchen team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.

  • Liaise with the front-of-house management team to ensure seamless communication and coordination between the kitchen and dining areas.

  • Maintain detailed records of kitchen operations, including inventory, food costs, and staff performance.

  • Assist the Executive Chef in menu development and testing, providing valuable input based on your operational expertise.


Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Prep Kitchen Manager or in a similar supervisory role within a high-volume restaurant or catering operation.

  • Thorough understanding of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and inventory management.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop kitchen staff.

  • Proficient in food safety and hygiene regulations, with a valid food hygiene certificate.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Passion for the culinary industry and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
