Post available: Full Time female Support Worker – 33.875 hours per week, including six sleep-in duties over the four week rolling rota. Female (Female Only GOQ applies)
Overtime is available when staff take annual leave and sickness, plus additional hours offered if client is going on holiday
Hours: an indication of the four-week rolling rota is; Week 2 (Wednesday 4pm to 4.30pm Thursday, and Saturday 4pm to 9.30am Sunday); Week 3 (Wednesday 4pm to 4.30pm Thursday, and Friday 4pm to 10.30am Saturday); Week 4, (Wednesday 4pm to 4.30pm Thursday, and Sunday 8.30am to 10.30am Monday).
Salary: £13 p/h weekdays, £14 p/h weekends, £11.44 p/h sleep in shift, double time on bank holidays

About the Role
The full-time role is to join an established team of 24/7 support workers assisting our client to live as independent a life as possible in her own large bungalow and in the community.
She is in her forties and has Cerebral Palsy, speech and physical difficulties. She has a great sense of humour, is very determined, organised and caring, though can be rather grumpy in the mornings.
Our client has wide interests. She loves Boccia and plays regularly, attending competitions several times a year, where she also likes to help refereeing. Bowling is another sport that she enjoys, plus spending time with her boyfriend, friends and family, eating out, socialising on nights out, plus holidays in the UK - and sometimes abroad.
Incidentally our client has an 18-month-old cat, which is extremely playful and rather naughty.
You will be working alone with our client, though there will be periods when you will be helped by another support worker in order to provide personal care. There will also be some domestic duties, like cleaning and cooking. The current team and team leader are extremely supportive, and costs for meals/activities of the client’s choice are covered in the staff budget.
You will also be required to drive a manual and automatic vehicles, as our client uses a manual car now, but is awaiting delivery of a new automatic Renault Traffic Start. It will mainly be for short drives with our client, but sometimes further afield, and therefore it is essential that you are a fully qualified and confident driver.
Job Description/Specifications
1. To work with a woman who has Cerebral Palsy, at home and in the local community. You will work on a rota basis as part of a 24-hour support team.
2. To be responsible to the client via the Team Leader and the Case Manager.
3. To provide assistance and support as directed by the Team Leader/Case Manager.
4. To help the client participate in recreational and leisure activities at home and in the community.
5. To provide daily ongoing support/prompts to assist the client to undertake domestic activities.
6. To prepare nutritional meals for the client as directed by the Team Leader.
7. To act as a driver for the client.
8. To accompany the client on holidays for up to 7 days and weekends away when required.
9. To carry out domestic duties in the client’s house as appropriate.
10. To undertake personal care duties and Moving and Handling of the client
11. To undertake training and supervision as agreed by the Team Leader/Case Manager.
12. To follow an agreed therapeutic approach, and use strategies documented in the support plan, working in collaboration with the therapy team and other professionals when required.
13. To ensure client confidentiality in all matters relating to the client.
14. Any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the employment as agreed with the client and Case Manager.
About you
Essential Qualifications/Experience
You must be able to read information contained in reports, and also present information clearly and accurately when communicating with the team via emails and reports.
You must have the ability to work on your own unsupervised, or as part of a team
You must have a full UK driving licence and be a confident driver of manual/automatic vehicles.
You must be prepared to have business class insurance on your own vehicle if you have the use of one for work.
You must be prepared to provide personal care
Desirable experience
To have a knowledge or level of understanding around Brain Injury
To have experience of working in a community setting or people’s own homes.
Desirable Skills and Aptitudes
1. You should have a non – judgmental approach with the ability to see things from other peoples’ perspectives, and be respectful of their lifestyle choices.
2. A calm communication style with clear pronunciation when speaking.
3. An understanding of the ‘enabling approach’ and the ability to judge when direction needs to be offered to the client.
4. A sense of humour is vital, along with an understanding of appropriate boundaries, with a mature, confident, and professional approach.
5. To be able to integrate an understanding of brain injury - displaying empathy but with a non-patronising approach.
6. The ability to follow the support plan, the case manager/team leader and guidance, and to accept feedback.
7. To display an understanding that the workplace is also the client’s home.
8. Have flexibility and a willingness to step in and help the client and family when the situation demands it.
9. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a variety of people involved with the client.
10. To be self motivated and able to work unsupervised with the client
11. Be Conscientiousness, have good timekeeping and good record keeping, using paper documentation and/or a laptop.
12. Ability to identify and manage potential risks, to safeguard the client.
13. The ability to use initiative and adapt to different situations and learn new skills.
Pay and Conditions
You will be employed by the client via their Deputy.
You will be line managed by the Team Leader on a day-to-day basis and overall by the Case Manager on behalf of the Deputy.
The contract allows for 5.6 weeks paid leave and 2 weeks (paid) sick leave.
You will receive initial and on-going training, plus regular supervision from the Team leader and Case Manager.
Rates of pay: £13 p/h weekday hours, £14 p/h weekend hours, £11.44 p/h sleep in shift, and double time per hour on bank holidays
