Job Summary

Working leader of warehouse/cross dock operation that oversees and ensures efficient daily operations within the warehouse to ensure customer orders and shipping lead times are achieved. The Warehouse Supervisor Supervisor is on the front-line of the business; overseeing unloading and loading operations, tracking labor, yields and efficiencies with a focus on continuous improvement. The Warehouse Supervisor leads by example and effectively motivates a team of permanent and temporary associates. The Warehouse Supervisor must communicate effectually and respectfully while ensuring adherence to all company policy and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Warehouse Operations and supervises forklift operators, general labor employees on an assigned shift to ensure unloading and loading schedules are met in a timely and efficient manner. The Warehouse Supervisor directs, coaches, leads, and ensures a cross trained work force in the day-to-day operations that meets service, safety, and quality requirements. The Warehouse Supervisor drives the communication of service goals and objectives, as well as results to effectively motivate the team to maintain a high standard of performance levels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Spends a minimum of 70% of the work period on the floor confirming efficiencies, performing visual inspections, coaching employees, and taking immediate corrective action to correct deviations where necessary.
  • Lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights
  • Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
  • Handle or manage tools or equipment
  • Data Collection, Metrics, and KPI’s.
  • Experience with a WMS/YMS.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and computerized scanner equipment.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends as dictated by business needs.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely data entry of all unloading/loading in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Ensure all team members know the daily schedule and understand the time sensitive completion requirements.
  • Trains employees on safety to ensure safe and efficient operating procedures are followed.
  • Tracks issues and durations as they may occur to facilitate root cause analysis and methods for corrections and improvement.
  • Suggests changes in workflow processes and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the operations and/or service to maintain the lowest level of downtime.
  • Ensures compliance with UC/NCS, company policies and procedures.
  • Display exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage daily activities of the operations team to assure compliance with promised customer delivery dates, quality standards, and operational efficiency standards/goals.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Warehouse Operations.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities:

  • Ability to Supervise and build teams and provide training and coaching to improve performance.
  • Assists in the determination and development of employees for optimum operations.
  • Develops and executes positive reinforcements to create good behaviors in team members or negative reinforcements up to and including termination.
  • Ability to develop and assess appropriate procedures for processing orders, with a focus on high quality work processes to meet customer needs.
  • Establishes and monitors the daily schedule and priorities to ensure priorities are adhered to and resources are utilized properly.
  • Ensures accuracy, housekeeping, product damage minimization and safety through monitoring and enforcement of company policy and process requirements.
  • Ability to implement process improvements and productivity improvements within the operation.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams and collaborate with other Supervisors and departments.
  • Good working knowledge of safe work practices in a cross-dock environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and communicate with employees at various levels in a variety of formats, including verbal, written and presentations.
  • Solid conflict resolution skills / problem solving.
  • Behavioral attributes desired include assertive, persistent, self-starter, problem-solver and results-driven.

Schedule:

  • 2nd Shift - Monday through Friday

Experience:

  • Warehouse experience: 3 years (Preferred)
  • union: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Forklift: 1 year (Preferred)
